Community Compact

The Foote School Community Compact is a social contract between adult members of our school community. Families and staff are asked to commit to the compact in order to have their children learn in-person on Foote’s campus during a time of heightened incidence of COVID-19.

*Sections updated as of April 13, 2021 are indicated with bold font.

By signing the compact, families pledge to abide by guidance from the State of Connecticut pertaining to youth sports and other extracurricular activities in order to decrease the likelihood of Foote needing to close campus again, and to abide by the following safe practices:

  • Playdates, birthday parties, and social events for children should be limited to those in your child(ren)’s grade(s), and be held outdoors with proper masking, hand hygiene and physical distancing.

  • Sleepovers and other indoor activities, even among children from the same class or grade, create a higher chance for exposure to COVID-19 and are discouraged.

  • *Students should follow State of Connecticut guidelines for participating in youth sports and other extracurricular activities. Parents should monitor the socialization around sports activities including team dinners and social events.

  • Parents will comply with all Connecticut health regulations concerning social gatherings, mask wearing, restaurants, health clubs, etc.

  • Students will participate in regular COVID-19 surveillance testing.

  • Students will continue to screen daily for COVID-19 symptoms using the online screening tool. If the result is red, parents will keep the child home and notify the school Health Office.

  • Students will follow all health and safety guidelines established by the school.

  • *Though the State of Connecticut has lifted its travel restrictions, families should follow the latest guidance from the Governor’s Office regarding out-of-state travel for vaccinated and unvaccinated persons. Foote recommends that families continue to avoid nonessential travel especially if it includes public transportation, commercial flights or social gatherings.

  • *If your family does travel out of state for more than 3 days, we will require that you provide a negative PCR test before your child returns to school.

To reduce the transmission of COVID-19 and sustain in-person learning, we must adopt behaviors that support the collective good of our community. We are asking our entire community to commit to doing their part to keep Foote School safe.

If at any point families are unable to meet the commitments of this compact, they may be asked by the school to switch to remote learning.
