Community

The Parent Teacher Council (PTC) is a link between the school and its families—a support group for all facets of the school community.

Through its many committees, members serve as room parents, host families, library volunteers and more. The PTC also sponsors a variety of social activities, community building events and fundraisers that bring Foote families together throughout the year.

Our collective hope, with your support, is to energize our parent-teacher community and to work collectively to support our children’s experience at The Foote School. 

Our mission is simple: We wish to create lasting and joyful memories for our all of our community members.  We aspire to create events and activities that are both happy and meaningful, that bridge the gap between school and community, and expand upon our deeply-rooted traditions here at The Foote School. To that end, and with equal emphasis, we wish to honor our familiar traditions and welcome new ideas from our community members. 

Finally, we aspire to support, empower and motivate our teachers and parents.  We want this space, the PTC, to be a space for teachers and parents to have their voices heard and to openly and freely collaborate and contribute to our community at large.

We are very happy to announce the formation of a Black/African American Affinity Group for Foote parents and guardians. The hosts are Cindy Crusto, Ngozi Ikekpeazu, Nkem Ikekpeazu and Alexis Robinson.

This group is open to anyone who has a child who identifies as Black/African American. The group seeks to be inclusive to parents of all children of African descent from across the diaspora. We wish to support families and host educational and community events that engage the varied cultural perspectives of Black people in America. Once the group gets started, we will evaluate the needs/interests of the group.

The Latinx/Hispanic Affinity Group is open to all Foote parents and guardians who identify as or affirm with the Hispanic, Latina/o/x and/or Latin American community. Join us in celebrating our shared heritage as well as to explore our individual journeys. We will discuss ways that we can support one another and our children as part of the Foote community. Ven a celebrar nuestras herencias compartidas y a explorar los caminos que nos han traído hasta aquí. Discutiremos las maneras en que nos podemos apoyar mutuamente y respaldar a nuestros hijos como miembros de la comunidad escolar. Proveeremos traducción simultánea al español a las personas hispanohablantes que lo requieran.

Foote’s Families of DEIJ group joins together parents, guardians, faculty, and staff to support the school in achieving its mission as it relates to diversity, equity and inclusion. The group meets regularly during the school day, and hosts various events throughout the year. Anyone may join — for more information, email Kossouth Bradford.
