This year has been a whirlwind of emotions, but at the end of the day I'm glad to be here. I have some words of advice to the next generation of ninth-graders, but this really applies to everyone who stays here as well.

We have limited information about Rogers but by looking at many primary documents we know he fought in the war, information about his second wife, and where he likely lived. His story helps us restore the humanity that slavery tried to erase by dehumanization and racism.
