Visual Arts

Experiment, explore.

The Visual Arts program embraces both tradition and innovation, and has long been a great source of creative inspiration in our students and in the greater community.

When I think of my art journey, the faculty are the initial inspiration. Their belief in my ability has helped me find my passion and propelled me forward. They evaluate my work and provide constructive feedback, which has helped increase my confidence and belief in my ability. lola, eighth grader

Cross-curricular

Art classes strive to cultivate a lifelong appreciation for art in students by teaching them to create works that express who they are.

An inviting classroom environment sparks students' imagination through hands-on lessons that build confidence and hone artistic techniques. Students create with paint, plaster, clay, cray-pas and so many other materials, while drawing inspiration from the masters of art history. Many projects are designed to complement the curriculum in science, literature and social studies, helping students form deeper connections to themes and subjects.

Experiential education extends to our art programs in each grade. The ninth grade work on a number of projects that feature exterior installations. Here they begin work on a Keith Haring-inspired mural on a wall bordering the athletic fields.
