Alumni Events

The image shows a grassy field with blurred figures in the background, likely representing alumni or attendees of an alumni weekend event scheduled for May 1-2, 2026.

At Alumni Weekend this year, we are celebrating our faculty and staff. The heart of the Foote experience is not a building or a program— it is our people who make Foote more than a school; they create a community.

When you support faculty and staff, you are investing directly in the individuals who shape our students' lives, fuel their curiosity, and set them on the path to lead with courage, compassion, and purpose. If you remember a teacher who changed everything for you, who continues to have a positive impact on your life, this is one way to say thank you, while ensuring that the very best people continue to choose to work here, grow here, and thrive here alongside our students.

2026 Alumni Achievement Award Recipient:
Catherine Cuthell ’68

Catherine Cuthell's path to education was anything but planned. Equipped with a B.A. from Yale and an M.B.A. from NYU, she had built a successful career in business — until a chance substitute teaching position in Middle School Math changed everything. What began as a detour became a calling. She earned a master's in Education in Mathematics from Bank Street College of Education, became the chair of the Math Department at the School at Columbia University, and taught a graduate seminar at Bank Street, shaping the next generation of math educators. Her dedication to progressive education speaks for itself — as does her enduring commitment to Foote, where it all began.

Your gift will benefit our faculty and staff by:

  • adding stipends for additional work outside the classroom, such as leading the Professional Learning Committee or planning school-wide assemblies,
  • increasing the existing stipends for those who assume year-long extracurricular roles, such Department Chairs, Lower School Program Coordinators, or Year One Program coordinators;
  • offering awards to those who assume additional responsibilities that benefit our school community;
  • compensating faculty members who enhance and continue to grow our curriculum;
  • funding professional development opportunities, which empower teachers to continuously refine their craft, adopt innovative strategies, and bring fresh perspectives into the classroom; and
  • boosting morale. Something as simple as a shared meal or a well-stocked break room can go a long way toward making faculty and staff feel genuinely valued, fostering a sense of community and belonging that carries over into every interaction with students.

All funds raised from Alumni Weekend will be allocated to support faculty and staff in myriad ways. We are grateful for your generous support.

How can we reach you?
