Meet Beth Mello
As Assistant Head of School, Beth Mello provides educational leadership for the school and its faculty, with a specific focus on three important areas: curriculum development; diversity, inclusion and social justice efforts; and faculty professional development.
Beth came to Foote in 2010 and served two years as Curriculum Coordinator followed by seven years as Head of Lower School, where she mentored faculty in Grades K–5 and oversaw curriculum development, the school’s character initiative (Falco’s PRIDE), was a frequent participant in classroom activities, and helped ensure that parents and the school worked together in the best interest of children.
Prior to Foote, she held top administrative positions, including principal, at the International School of Curitiba in Brazil, and she is fluent in Portuguese. Beth holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Massachusetts and a master’s in Education from Framingham State College. Beth currently lives in Bethany with her partner, Jessica. Between the two of them, they have four children—three adults and one senior at Amity Regional High School—and one grandchild. Beth enjoys spending time with family and hiking in the White Mountains.
As their final art project, ninth graders reproduce an impressionist oil painting of their choice after studying the history and techniques of the movement.
