Meet Chrissy Khachane
Chrissy is an accomplished academic leader with deep expertise in child development and a passion for independent school education. As Head of Lower School, she provides educational leadership in Grades K–5 and mentorship for its faculty, as well as curriculum development and support for Lower School parents.
Prior to joining Foote in 2019, Chrissy was president of Edvise Consulting, which works with schools across the country to support curriculum review, faculty professional development, student assessments, and social/emotional initiatives. She has also served as Lower School Head and Assistant Lower School Head at Pine Crest Preparatory School; Middle School Learning Specialist and Fifth Grade Dean at Hackley School; and Reading Specialist at Agnes Irwin School and The Haverford School.
She holds an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University Teachers College; an M.S. Ed. In Reading/Writing/Literacy from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education; and a B.A. in Arts and Education from William Smith College. Chrissy and her husband, Anil (a Foote alumnus), live in Orange. They have three children, two of whom attend Foote's Lower School.
As their final art project, ninth graders reproduce an impressionist oil painting of their choice after studying the history and techniques of the movement.
