Day 2: Alhambra and Flamenco
Granada day 2
Spain Day 2

This morning we started off the day with a tour of the Alhambra, which translates to Red Castle.  The history and architecture were captivating to the group, and Zahabiya gave us many interesting facts to think about as well as areas to look for as we walked through the palace and city.

After our tour we walked back to old town Granada where we had tapas lunch and then did some shopping in the Alcaiceria, an Arab style open market.  We then quenched our hunger with fresh made churros and hot chocolate dipping sauce — they were delicious!

After resting briefly at the hotel we went off to an old bull ring where we had dinner and flamenco dancing lessons as well as a flamenco show.  At the restaurant Lucy gave us a vivid description of the history of this important Spanish cultural tradition along with a reminder that it has nothing to do with flamingos.

After the show we had a brief stop at a beautiful view point where we could see the city of Granada and the Alhambra at night from the top of a mountain!  It was gorgeous!  Finally back at the hotel packing for our next stops in Cordoba and Seville tomorrow!
