The fifth grade study of ancient Greece culminated this week with "Greek Immersion Day". Fifth graders participated in many Greek-themed activities including chariot races and original plays based on Greek myths performed in the Sandine Theater. Pictured, Jake Burt's class performs "Pandora's Box."

 

Students received the 2018-2019 yearbook at the annual Yearbook Assembly on Wednesday, and enjoyed a performance of "Stand By Me" by the Jazz-Rock Ensemble. Pictured, eighth grader Zander A. displays the yearbook featuring his original illustration on the cover.

 

Kindergarteners shared their "Family Traditions" books with incoming Head of Lower School Chrissy Khachane. While Chrissy will be officially starting this summer, she has been visiting classrooms to meet and learn from students about what makes Foote a special school.

 

Students in John Cunningham's science class chart the temperature in solar ovens they built from recycled materials as they wait for chocolate chip cookies to bake.

 

Middle School English teacher Michael Milburn, gave students notes on their performances leading up to the ninth grade Poetry Cabaret. The annual event challenges the class to perform original spoken-word poetry, music, comedy, movement and other works before a live audience.

 

Taking full advantage of the warm weather, first graders enjoyed lunch outside on a beautiful sunny day.

 

Sixth grade students use chalk in art class to explore perspective drawing, color blending, chalk techniques and interactive art as a final, fun project of the year.

 

For the first time in more than 50 years of record keeping, Field Day ended in an actual tie—14,30 points each! Athletics Director Brad McGuire revealed the anomaly after the Yearbook Assembly on Wednesday, marking the milestone with a unique double-sided flag that will hang from the campus flagpole for the duration of the 2019-2020 school year.
