Julian Schlusberg joined Foote's faculty in 2000 after having taught drama for 30 years in the Hamden school system. But his connection to Foote actually goes back to 1981, when he cofounded Foote's renowned Summer Theater Program.
In his 40 years at Foote School, Julian has directed more than 75 plays and musicals, created a sequential drama curriculum for Grades K–9, served as advisor and mentor to so many, and shared the joy of theater with two generations of students. Over the decades, he has been recognized with numerous awards for excellence in theater education.
Julian will retire this June following an extraordinary 52-year career in education. On this episode of The Foote School Podcast, Julian reflects on his career, how he fell in love with drama and adapting his curriculum in light of COVID-19.
