5-3-2022 - Here Today, Home Tomorrow

Our guide Susana said to us this morning, “The bad news is that it’s the last day. The good news is that you’ve all tested negative so you can go home tomorrow.” Honestly, it has been an amazing trip, and none of us can believe that it is over. Each day felt like ten because we did so much, and the ten days passed so quickly that it felt like a single one. We started off at the Picasso Museum this morning, where Dani told us about the artist’s life and work, focusing on his Blue Period. We had our family group lunches in Placa Reial, spent a couple of hours shopping along La Rambla and the Gothic Quarter, and met back at the plaza for our final sketches. Jack told us about the 2000-year evolution of  La Rambla and then we explored its most famous market, La Boqueria, which opened in 1840. We had a delicious last supper and walked back to the hotel for a touching closing ceremony (lots of clapping, lots of laughter, lots of hugs). Now it’s just  a matter of packing up tonight and heading home tomorrow. Wish us safe travels!
