The start of a new school year is one of my favorite times of year. I love the excitement that comes with starting anew and the anticipation for new learning adventures that await. I love hearing stories of summer adventures and experiences as students and families return to the community. In the coming weeks I am looking forward to hearing the sounds of children and families that bring our campus to life.
Partnership and support are key elements to ensuring that we are able to meet the needs of all students educational and personal development. To that end I hope you will take advantage of the opportunity to connect with your chid’s classroom teacher through the Getting to Know You conference available in the first few weeks of school. This is a wonderful way to begin the year and to set a tone for communication with your child’s teacher. Each homeroom teacher will have a classroom blog where updates and information on events, projects and curriculum will be shared on a regular basis as one means of continuing the conversation throughout the school year.
To further our efforts in partnership and support I will be using this blog to share happenings throughout the Lower School. One of my goals is to foster an exchange between parents and children around the opportunities for academic and personal growth at Foote. Each post will include three questions adults can ask their child(ren), regardless of the grade level, in order to learn more about a recent experience at school. This type of weekly exchange has become a family tradition in our own home and I hope you will enjoy the activity with your children as well.
To kick things off, here are three questions to ask before the start of school:

Campus is busy with many hands working hard to prepare for the first day and to ensure each child’s learning experience at Foote is a positive and meaningful one. I am thrilled to be joining a team of administrators, teachers, staff, parents and students who want to achieve great things in the year ahead.
