Board of Directors

From its earliest years, The Foote School has been guided by dedicated parents and community members who have volunteered to serve on its Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for providing strategic vision and direction; financial stewardship and oversight of campus facilities; as well as appointing, evaluating and supporting the Head of School. Its members are elected to staggered four-year terms by The Foote School Association, the nonprofit corporation of which all Foote parents or guardians are members.

Michael and his family moved to Connecticut in 2010. The Foote School was a natural and inviting community for them and they found a home only a few blocks away. Michael grew up in Karlsruhe, Germany, where he trained in chemistry before moving to Munich to work in the medical device industries, which lead him to move to Boulder, Colo. He was a product manager for TomTec Imaging Inc., consulting with major medical research centers around the world in applying three-dimensional ultrasound imaging. After studying at the Illinois Institute of Technology, he worked as an architect at SOM (Skidmore, Owings & Merrill) in Chicago until moving to New Haven. He lives with his wife, Lissa Sugeng, a cardiologist at Yale School of Medicine, and their two children: Nathaniel '17 and Emile (Grade 5).
