D.C. Day 3: FBI Encounters, Capitol Building, Holocaust Memorial

By Levi Lucarelli-Apatow and Hatim Elarabi

Today, our first stop was the J. Edgar Hoover FBI Building. After a short wait in the courtyard, we were welcomed by a retired special agent named Tom, who told us about the various roles individuals can play at the FBI, followed by Kash Patel, the Director of the FBI. Yes, really. We then continued through the interactive FBI experience, where we learned about the history of the FBI and the thrilling federal cases it has tackled through the years.

Afterward, we went to a food court for lunch and ventured on to the U.S. Capitol Building. There, we went on a guided tour through several rooms, notably the Rotunda and the Statuary Hall. We were all in agreement; the traditional artwork that lined the walls and ceiling was both sleek and gorgeous.

We continued to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. It was powerful to walk through the rooms and reflect.

Finally, after returning to the hotel to change into more formal attire, we assembled at the newly named Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Center. We saw gorgeous 360-degree views of Washington, D.C., from the rooftop terrace and dined at the terrace cafe. Then, we watched Shear Madness, a fun and interactive murder mystery whodunit that included audience participation. Ultimately, our final full-day in our nation’s capital was one to remember.
