Curious about the future of Alzheimer's research?
Eighth grader Jessica Park is a good person to ask. After attending seminars on stem cell research and neurodegenerative diseases last spring, she began studying how planaria (small worms that can regrow lost body parts) can serve as models for research on neurodegenerative diseases, like Alzheimer’s. Her working hypothesis, “Can Memory Be Restored and Retained in Places Outside the Brain?” has guided months of research, supported by her Foote mentors (and science teachers), which she will continue to pursue.
