Arts Night: Stitched Together
The Foote School Visual and Performing Arts departments are co-hosting an Arts Night this spring. The theme, “Stitched Together,” captures the spirit of this community sewing bee, led by Foote parent and artist Megan Craig.
Stop by the school ahead of time to cut felt into simple shapes and place them on a banner (see dates and times below). Then on April 8, between 4:30–8:00 p.m., Megan will lead participants as we stitch the final shapes onto the banner (which will be dedicated and hung in the school at a later date).

The Idea Behind the Inspiration
The idea for this project is related to a participatory public art project funded by the National Endowment for the Arts Megan did called “Memory Edit: I Will Never Forget” in 2018 (more details available on her website). Here is a link to images from that project that give a sense of the communal sewing tables, the possible scale of a banner, and an example of stitched felt on satin. This project is suitable for all ages and abilities.
