Linc Eldrege and Jessica Cockrell, who visited Foote in January, were greatly impressed with the school and were committed to imbuing the profile with the positive atmosphere that they felt on campus. Again, we ask that if you are aware of any potential candidates, you e-mail Linc directly to with their names.
And don’t hesitate to contact either of us if you have any concerns or questions.

Cars on Loomis Place: Promote Safety, Prevent Gridlock
To families and designated drivers:
Safety is our top priority! The school has two full-time security guards who monitor pedestrian and vehicular traffic at arrival and dismissal times. In addition, Mr. Farley is the crossing guard at the corner of Highland St. and Loomis Place. Please respect their efforts to direct traffic and keep things safe and observe thefollowing rules:
- Enter Loomis Place from Highland Street at all times.
- Leave or pick up children on the school side of the street only
- Exit onto Canner Street.
- Double parking and U-turns areprohibited.
- Students may be dropped off at the circle in the faculty lot on Canner Street. Please do not park in this lot or in the circle.
- When walking your child through the Canner Street lot, please use the sidewalk on the eastern side of the parking lot.
Help Us Be Good Neighbors
When parking on Loomis Place, use the school side of the street, and be mindful of driveways and street signs. Please help us be good neighbors when parking on Loomis Place, and be especially mindful for weekend and evening events. (One neighbor is wheelchair bound; some have no driveways; others must park at least one car on the street.) Final note: The residential side of the street requires a sticker; parking there may result in a ticke or towing.
Foote Kids On-line
A meeting for parents and teachers of students in grades 6-9 brought a number of paents to campus on Monday, April 21.
Those in attendance learned more about children’s use of the internet and social networking — and how to guide them to use the internet productively and safely. Social networking via the internet was not a part of our own teen experience, but it’s a topic of great interest and concern to today’s students.
Doug Fodeman and Marje Monroe of Children Online led a two-hour workshop designed to help parents understand and cope with the many issues affecting children online.
Both Marje and Doug have worked with many schools for the past 10 years helping teachers, administrators, parents and children work through these issues. They have also conducted surveys and collected data on the behavior of children and teens on-line for several years. Learn more about them at www.children-online.org

Parent Teacher Communication In addition toregularly scheduled parent conferences, teachers encourage parents of their students to contact them with any questions or concerns. The Lower and Middle School Heads are available to handle parental concerns after the teacher or advisor has been consulted.
FYI: School Cancellations & Delayed Openings
Parents will get automated call via our TeleFoote System. Information will also be posted here and on the hompage, and a message will be placed on the school telephone answering system.
Note: In general, Foote School follows the New Haven Public Schools. With rare exceptions, if New Haven cancels, Foote will cancel, and if New Haven has delayed opening, so will Foote.
The school sponsors educational meetings for parents and combined Foote School Association/PTC meetings are held twice during each academic year.
SCHOOL ABSENCES POLICY
It is very important to follow school policy regarding student absences for any reason, e.g. illness, appointments, arriving late or leaving early.
* Call the school as soon as you know your child will not be attending or will be late that day.
* Before or after school hours, please leave a message in our voice mail (general mailbox 100) with your name, the child's name, the teacher, the reason for the absence or the late arrival (and if known, an approximate time of arrival) and the date.
* For safety reasons, it is most important that the office know of all absences by 8:35 a.m.
* Late arrivals should check in at the front office and with the homeroom teacher.
