GET INVOLVED in the Parent Teacher Council. The PTC, through its many committees, serves as room parents, host families, library volunteers, helping with vision and hearing screenings and more. The PTC also also sponsors activities that bring families together and in many cases, raises funds that support school activities. (Note links at right.) To become active for 2009-2010, click here.
DROP OFF/PICK UP ON LOOMIS PLACE:
Promote Safety, Prevent Gridlock
To families and designated drivers:
Safety is our top priority! The school has two full-time security guards, Karen Conyer and Tyrell Grimes, who monitor pedestrian and vehicular traffic at arrival and dismissal times. In addition, Mr. Farley is the crossing guard at the corner of Highland St. and Loomis Place. Please respect their efforts to direct traffic and keep things safe and observe the following rules:
- Enter Loomis Place from Highland Street at all times, but remember that it is a legally a two-way street. The lane for oncoming traffic must be kept clear.
- Use the school side of Loomis Place only. The residential side requires a permit sticker and parking there, especially if a car is facing in the wrong direction, may result in a ticket or towing.
When parking on Loomis Place to escort children to the classroom or to pick them up, pull over to the curb. Do not double park or make U-turns.
- For most efficient drop-off use:
– Middle School Building area for Grades 4 & 5.
– Highland Street for Grades 7-9.
– The circle in the faculty lot on Canner Street for K-3.
Exit onto Canner Street.
Buses: All children who ride buses to Foote are dropped off and picked up at the circle in the Canner Street Lot, where a faculty member is waiting.
For more details and tips for safe and efficient drop-off/pick up, click here.
Help Us Be Good Neighbors
When parking on Loomis Place, be mindful of driveways and street signs and be especially mindful for weekend and evening events. Two neighbors are neighbor wheelchair-bound; some have no driveways; others must park at least one car on the street.
Final note: The residential side of the street requires a sticker; parking there may result in a ticket or towing.
Be sure you get parent E-News. These are sent out regularly, usually every Thursday. If you are not on the school e-mail list and would like to be added, contact Director of Communications Charlotte Murphy. Click here for the parents e-news archive.
Plan ahead with the 2010-11 School Year Calendar. The on-line version is always the most up-to-date.
Week-at-a-Glance (referred to as the weekly calendar) is sent home each Thursday with students and posted on-line. The on-line version is the most up-to-date.

Parent Teacher Communication In addition to regularly scheduled parent conferences, teachers encourage parents of their students to contact them with any questions or concerns. The Lower and Middle School Heads are available to handle parental concerns after the teacher or advisor has been consulted.

SCHOOL ABSENCES & LATE ARRIVAL/EARLY DEPARTURE POLICY
It is very important to follow school policy regarding student absences for any reason, e.g. illness, appointments, etc., as well as what to do when students arrive late or must leave early.
* Call the front office at 203-777-3464 as soon as you know your child will not be attending or will be late that day.
* Before or after school hours, please leave a message in our voice mail (general mailbox 100) with your name, the child's name, the teacher, the reason for the absence or the late arrival (and if known, an approximate time of arrival) and the date.
* For safety reasons, it is most important that the office know of all absences by 8:35 a.m.
* Late arrivals should check in at the front office and with the homeroom teacher.
