Foote's Book Fair – Something for Everyone

Foote’s Book Fair – highlighted by two author receptions, a beautiful catalog, and a unique selection of books – begins this weekend with shopping at Barnes & Noble in North Haven and culminates next week on campus in the Twichell Room.

The Foote Book Fair is like no other. We pick our own books for the on-campus Book Fair and produce a catalog to showcase them. Catalog titles were selected with great care by Librarian Lynda Johnson. Lynda spent months poring over book lists and choosing the ones that would be just right for Foote children of all ages.

IN-STORE FAIR – Nov. 2, 3, & 4

Timed to precede the holidays, the Book Fair starts with a shopping weekend at Barnes & Noble on Universal Drive in North Haven, beginning Friday. During all store hours this weekend, Foote will receive 15 percent of your purchases ONLY if you present a Foote coupon at checkout. (Click here to download a coupon.)  This is a chance to buy books and gift items that are NOT in our catalog.

Weekend Highlight

Reading and book signing:
In the Extreme: Sonnets about World Records by Kim Bridgford, mother of fifth grader Nick Duval
Kim will read from her book of poems, based on the Guinness Book of World Records
Saturday 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Barnes & Noble
Refreshments will be served.

ON-CAMPUS FAIR– Nov. 5, 6, & 7

The Twichell Room Book Fair will run Monday through Wednesday opening at 8 a.m. each day and closing on Monday at 4 p.m., Tuesday at 6 p.m. and Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Foote will receive up to 25 percent of your purchases (no coupon necessary). You will be able to buy many of the catalog books on site, since there will be several copies of each available. Gift items will also be sold, including note cards featuring art of Foote students and small things the kids love like pencils and Foot(e)-shaped calculators.

You will also have the opportunity to purchase books on Teachers' Wish Lists (great holiday gifts for teachers) and for the Read to Grow program, which benefits city public schools.

For the closing reception on Wednesday evening from 5 to 6:30 p.m. we will host a book signing (not a reading) for Foote authors – parents and teachers who have books, CDs, and games in our catalog.

Authors and artists slated to attend include: Foote teachers Reona Visser, Liz Reed-Swale, Michael Milburn, Sarah Heath and Jenny Byers; and Foote parents (of current and former students) Deborah Freedman, Donald Green, Tony Kronman, Donald Margulies, and Eeva-Lisa Pelkonen.

We will accept checks and cash at the on-campus sale.  We thank you all for your support at this wonderful community event, which celebrates books and reading.
