WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT H1N1
Action Steps for Parents and Children
STAY HOME WHEN YOU ARE SICK
If you are sick with flu-like illness, CDC recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care or for other necessities. (Your fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.) Keep away from others as much as possible to keep from making others sick.
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners, often referred to as hand sanitizers, are also effective.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
FLU VACCINATION GUIDANCE
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that
school-aged children (and their parents) get vaccinated for
seasonal flu and for the 2009 H1N1 flu when vaccines become
available.
What Foote School is Doing
SENDING SICK STUDENTS HOME
Teachers will send students who look sick or feverish to the school nurse. Students who become sick at school will be moved to a
separate room under the care of the school nurse until they can be picked up by their parents. We understand that his can be an iconvenience, and we apprrcate your cooperation in this effort to keep the spead of H1N1 at bay.
CLEANING
Our maintenance staff is using a high performance cleaner on critical surfaces in the classrooms and elsewhere each day.
Hand sanitizer dispensers have been installed in many
locations throughout the school. Children and adults are
encouraged to use them frequently during the school day.
GOING FORWARD
We will stay in touch with local and state health officials and with the Foote community via e-news to update you on any changes regarding this issue. Updates and announcement will be posted on this website as well.
