Another special summer of learning and fun is in store for theater participants, as Foote Summer Theater heads into its 26th year. This extraordinary program enjoys a reputation as one of New England's finest and longest continuously running educational theater experiences. Over the years, teens from all over the state have traveled to Foote to take advantage of the expertise of a professional staff, the excitement of collaborating on an exhilarating production and the comfort of Foote's state-of-the-art, air conditioned theater. Foote theater teacher and director Julian Schlusberg and set designer Frank J. Alberino have chosen from a long list of challenging productions and are happy to anounce this year's summer production – the poignant, exquisite and heart warming musical The Secret Garden. Master Class in Set Building and Theater Tech
Students will be guided from the design and model building phase to the actual construction of sets. Skills acquired will range from learning to read ground plans and blueprints to handling tools and executing design. The perfect arena in which to improve your abilities as a painter, carpenter or learn the ins and outs of lighting, sound, props and costumes. Enjoy the backstage excitement and responsibility of being on a running crew during performances. This is an exceptional program under the auspices of professional set designer Frank Alberino. Students entering sixth, seventh or eithth grade can explore various aspects of theater, comedy and improvisation. Elisabeth Sacco will direct this activity. Participants will have an opportunity to perform their work for local audiences as well as for the Foote family. Emphasis will be on self-expression, creativity, character development, movement, timing, delivery and communication. (Participants will also have outdoor time for the occasional water balloon toss!)
