The Foote School: Co-Curricular Programs

Adventure Programs

Visiting Animals:
Chickens, Chinchillas and More
Ages 8-10 $300
June 25-29 8:30 a.m. -1 p.m.*

Once again, we offer this exciting activity for animal lovers and future veterinarians. Different animals will visit Foote each day. In the past we have had ferrets, domestic birds, baby bats and other creatures. Learn how to care for, feed and understand them. Study and compare behaviors. There may be a field trip (by the school van) to the Audubon Center in South Glastonbury to see how wounded animals are rehabilitated by professional rescuers. A truly wonderful opportunity. Sign up early. Limited to 12 participants.
*return time may be later on certain days

Let's Go Fishing:
A Catch and Release Program
Ages 8-10+ $300
July 2-6 (No July 4) 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.*
Come learn the basics of fishing in a variety of Connecticut locales – rivers, ponds and lakes. You need your own simple equipment (pole, line and hooks). We supply bait. This is a perfect summer experience for both the beginner and intermediate fisherperson. Kids always love it – some take the course again and again! Teacher Ann-Marie Blake leads this activity for the 16th summer! Students travel by school van. Limited to 12 participants.

By the end of the week, you'll be part of the Foote Loose gang led by Judy Brennan. Requirements: Plenty of energy and an open attitude toward the great outdoors. Limited to 12 participants.

Hiking with Jim Adams
Ages 10-14 $300
July 9-13 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Explore the local wilderness with your friends. We'll go hiking at places near and far, like Lake Wintergreen, Sleeping Giant State Park and maybe even Deer Lake! You can also learn important wilderness skills along the way, such as map reading, using a compass, emergency first aid, animal tracking and many, many more.
Field Trips
with Judy Brennan & Bill Manke
Ages 11-14 $400
June 25-29 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Don't miss out on the opportunity for 5 days of field trips. Judy the professional field trip organizer will be the leader of this fun! Participants will help decide where they will go. Maybe Boston, maybe New York? But all will be fun with a little education!!! Limited to 12 participants. Students travel by school van. Fee includes all admissions.
Helping Hands
a community service activity
Ages 12-14 $200
July 16-20 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

This is an opportunity for a group of Middle School students to join together, get to know one other, have fun and give back something to the community around them. Last year's group volunteered at a preschool center and the New Haven Diaper Bank and prepared food for the hungry. Everyone came away with a new outlook on themselves and on society. PLEASE NOTE: We welcome participants who have a positive attitude, mature comportment and a real desire to help. Thank you!

Off-Campus Adventures
Ages 9-14 $400
July 23-27 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Come join Mr. Adams and Mr. Solomon for some serious fun! We’ll go bowling, play minigolf, hike, take a trip to a museum and maybe even an amusement park. Get ready for adventure!
