Admissions notification for applications received by February 1: March 10

Applications received after February 1 are considered on a space-available basis.

What you should know about The Foote School:

1. Reading, writing and oral presentation are stressed in all grades.

2. Hands-on science and math begin in kindergarten.

3. Foreign language instruction begins in kindergarten and continues throughout the grades.

4. Music, drama, art and physical education begin in kindergarten and continue throughout the grades.

5. Technology is integrated throughout the curriculum.

6. Gym and outdoor activity time scheduled for every grade level

7. Interscholastic sports program for grades 7-9.

8. Our Middle School teachers and advisors specialize in middle school learning styles and developmental needs. Middle School activities range from Chorus to Community Service to Model Congress.

9. Community Service begins in Kindergarten and continues throughout the years with age-appropriate activities, often tied to the curriculum.

10. Our classes are small and discussion-based, and there is an emphasis on cooperative effort and accountability for one's actions.

1. We have a diverse school community, which enriches learning and fosters mutual respect.

12. Our students have a strong record of achievement in regional, statewide, and national competitions in mathematics, foreign languages and more. Click here for the 2008-2009 results. And our graduates go on to great secondary schools and colleges.




Our Chinese Exchange Program
brings a teacher from Yali Middle School in Changsha, China to Foote for the fall term. A student/teacher delegation visits Foote in October, and ninth graders and Foote faculty visit China in March.

The Campus
:
17.8 acres with 10 classroom buildings, a 47,000+ volume library, science laboratories, Middle and Lower School computer labs, a black box theater, music rooms, art studios, a gymnasium, playing fields, and a butterfly garden and wooded area for outdoor education. Kindergarten - Grade Five   $19,020
Grades Six - Nine $22,120

Financial Aid:
Awarded on the basis of need. 21 percent of the student body received more than $1.4 million in financial aid for 2009-10.

Extended Day:
After School Program
for Grades K-6 until 5:30 p.m. each day. Full-time or specified part-time options. Full-time tuiton is $2,930. Vacation Program and Summer Program also available.

Beyond Foote:
Graduates continue their educations at some of the finest secondary schools in the country. The three most common secondary school choices in recent years have been Choate Rosemary Hall, Hopkins School, and Hamden Hall Country Day School. The top college choices in recent years have included Yale, George Washington University, New York University, Amherst, Wesleyan, University of Connecticut, Brown and Harvard.
