What is social networking?
Social networking refers to a category of Internet applications to help connect friends, business partners, or other individuals together using a variety of tools. These applications, known as online social networks are becoming increasingly popular.
What’s the attraction of online social networks?

- empowering ability to contribute and communicate
- connectedness to the global community
What are the "networkers" doing online?
- multiplayer games
- wikis
- podcasting (video and sound)
- sharing of photos
- vlogs (video blogs)
IM (instant, realtime, messaging)
- blogging
MySpace combines it all: blogs, photos, music, email, IM, video, e-mail
